Kapi Kottai
Founded in mid 2018 by Akshay Vaidyanathan and Esarella Fernando; kāpi kottai is an attempt at highlighting the excellence and uniqueness of Indian coffees and getting the conversation started about traceability and low environmental impact in the Indian coffee scenario.
They source directly from estates that grow their coffee sustainably under a canopy of native jungle trees with very little or no use of agrochemicals. They find that picking and processing being accounted for ; native shade and low use of chemicals leads to a good terroir and ends up elevating the cup as well.
Being based out of Chennai, where there is a lot of coffee but very little of it specialty or traceable; they hope to make the philosophies behind the third and fourth wave coffee cultures more accessible and hopefully get people wondering where their cuppa’ Joe or tumbler of piping hot kāpi started its journey.
