Aeropress is an easy to handle and light plastic coffee maker that can produce really delicious coffee. Although it might seem complicated, Aeropress coffee maker is very easy to use. It consists of a cylinder, a plunger with flexible airtight seal and a cap that takes a paper filter.

Inverted Method

Step 1

Grind your Coffee

Take about 20 gm coffee and grind it medium-fine, a bit finer than that for V60 and a notch coarser than that for Moka Pot.

Step 2

Add grounds to the cylinder

Turn the plunger upside down, fit the cylinder on top and add coffee grounds to the cylinder.

Step 3

Add hot water

Heat about 250 gm water to not more than 87 degree in a kettle. We have seen better results at this temperature. A higher temperature usually gives a bitter cup of coffee. Pour in 140 gm water and make sure grounds are properly wet.

Step 4

Stir and fit the cap

Stir 2-3 times. Place the paper filter on to the cap and wet it before fitting the cap to the cylinder.

Step 5

Turn and plunge

Place the coffee mug upside down on to the cap and turn the Aeropress upright. Press the plunger slowly all the way down. This process should take 20-30 seconds.

Step 6

Add warm water & serve

Pour it into a warm cup and add 100 gm water from the kettle. Do not reheat the kettle. The water temperature must have dropped a few degrees. Your coffee is ready to drink!
